Hey guys I just got a hds 5 yesterday. I am wondering if there is a way to get the battery voltage on the hds with out buying one of the cables that shows you all the information on the engine and stuff. On my old x125 it showed the battery voltage right on the side. I fish at night and some times run submersible lights off the main battery so I need to be able to monitor this. Do I need a ethernet cable? Thanks for the help guys

Should be right in your overlay options and can place it anywhere on the screen you want. Remember that each window pane can have its own overlay settings so you may need to turn it on for several different views.

Hey guys thanks for the replies. I got that figured out.My depth thing doesnt work. It just has 3 hyphons where it should say the depth. Is this because its sitting in the drive way and not in the water. I would think it would meausre the depth from the transducer to the ground. Thanks again

    Yes

If you can hear or feel the transducer clicking you are good to go.

Sometimes my ducer works out of water… BUT ONLY IF

The ducer is wet and the ground is too.
You will not get the correct “depth” however because sonar measures the speed of sound. Sound travels slower in water than air so the “depth” if it does read out of the water will be greater.

This works with Vexilar on dry floors too if you turn the gain way up.

Hey guys some how I changed my time zone to mountain time. Or I’m assuming thats what I did as the time is one hour behind. How do I fix this?

My buddy sent me some way points last night and I’m having trouble entering them. Some of them have 8 numbers and only room for 7 on the hds. I goto settings and then system and coordinate system and it gives me all these options. However I find they all only have 7 spaces for numbers. Here is a copy of one of the way points 39.489667 -98.366367. Which option would I need selected for that? Thanks for all the help guys

I will check tonight on the time issue for you. I have some work to do in the boat and will check it while I’m there. The time is not as easy to find on the HDS units as it was on the old ones.

To set your time, go to menu, system, and then scroll down to time and hit enter. It allows you to somewhat set the local time. It can only be set in 30 minute increments. Set it as close to your local time as possible. It will adjust the minutes to the correct time from the satellites. There is no time zone setting anymore to my knowledge.
