Sadly to say, it’s just been way too much hassle.

58 minutes on hold today and then I get this supervisor with an attitude.

Between spending way too much time on the phone with them and having to file “unauthorized deductions” from my account three times along with changing my card number once…I think it’s time to move on.

It’s a great product and safety feature for anyone with a Bird or Lowrance…just be careful.

PS If you go to monthly billing, you’ll be charge $2.00 more for them sending you an email notice saying your bill is due.

What is or rather “was” the benefit of Sirius vs using a phone for weather? I s’pose having it on the Low or HB screen makes it easier, but the extra cost seems to make it not worth it…or am I missing something?

Good for you Brian. If I ever get a supervisor with an attitude they lose my business right then and there.

The storm and lightning alarms were handy. There’s a number of places I fish that I can’t get cell service much less a net connection and hearing the alarm, checking the gps and making a plan came in handy a number of times.

Both keeping me out longer then I would have or bringing me in earlier then I would have.

It would be hard for me to justify the in-land weather if I fished a couple times a month, but fishing every weekend or more, it was a great tool to have.

Aha! I knew there had to be benefit–and well explained. Can you make the rain go away for a while?

I am pulling for the rain Scotty…I would love to see a little “current flow” on P-4 on the 21st…

    YES YES to some flow.

I just put together some pink and black hair jigs…daughter Hannah wants to get after some saugers vertical jigging. She doesn’t like pink, but she knows that saugers do! Very cool to watch her tie her own jigs and catch fish on them.

See you when I see you Tom!

For once I’m not being a smart here. I have always found the best weather predictor on the water is a AM radio. When the static starts you know it, when it starts getting bad, you know it. These new fangled gadgets are cool and everything, but there is a price to pay and at some point the “hassle” is to much of a price. I think you got to that point today.

Being the old timer you are, I know you have a AM radio laying around somewhere.

If you connect your locator GPS to your vhf radio it will sound an alarm when there is a warning in the area you are in. Works good. It has come in handy a few times all ready this year.

That whole satellite radio ipod thing just leaves me blank. I guess I am old or something.

We need to talk about this one. I have it connected for DSC and my location, direction and speed shows on my vhf screen…but I’ve never received an alert of any kind.

Are you taking about the weather radio alert?

Down in the Red Wing area, (Weather Channel 5) the sirens are going off all the time and nothing comes across NOAA until it’s too late to get out of the way.

Let me know if there’s something I’m missing.

In the mean time, I have all winter to figure out if there’s anything else I can do and get it set up.

    Well there might be hope.

I now have a personal SiriusXM assistant.

Around 5 pm today, a nice young lady gave me a call to see if she could help. I was taken back by the call felt I should listen, but I still gave her the cold shoulder because enough was enough and I had moved on.

She told me how to avoid the $2. invoicing fee.
How to pay my bill without having Sirius hold my card number
How to avoid any hold times when calling.
    AND
I have Hilda’s direct line for anything else I might want to talk to Sirius about.

I asked Hilda about the other people that are having trouble with getting through, can I post your phone number?

Well she didn’t want me to do that.

So I won’t…(read between the lines here)

Now is this deja vu of another company from a few years back or what?
