I have a lowrance lcx-113. It turns on goes to opening screen, freezes and shuts off. Lowrance says its an internal problem and I need to send it back. Is there any place that fixes them?? I called a couple places and they said send it back but they (lowrance) just send you a new one (hds-10) well I dont want to shell out another 1000 to upgrade. Would just like this one fixed as im happy with it until it broke.

Try Fish Electronics in Fridley MN
Nope they said send it back. thats every answer I get just thought somebody must be able to repair them but not looking good. boat sits this summer I refuse to pay 800 for a unit thats only 2 1/2 years oldMay 17, 2012 at 8:07 pm #1068999Before you try sending it out, make sure your power cord for it has got a good connection with 12 volts to it. I would check the voltage and also check the inline fuse for corrosion. Sometimes a bad connection will cause the power to fluctuate and act the way you are seeing it act. Also check the connection that your cord is tied into to make sure you are getting a good 12 volts. It might help.
May 17, 2012 at 8:20 pm #1069001Yep. did that. 12.07 volts coming out of the wires before it goes into the graph. Tried a hard reset worked. Shut it off, came back on, didnt loose any waypoints. Now it dont work again it seems to be intermittent but its been 2 days now so I think its gone.
May 18, 2012 at 3:00 am #1067132Just for giggles I would try another battery most batteries that are good run 12.5 volts, it should run fine at 12 but one never knows.

Thanks for the help. Beleive it or not i tried that to. It was low because i was fishing and checked the volts the next day and it did it with the other battery. Thanks for the suggestion.mojogunterPosts: 3313May 18, 2012 at 4:25 am #1066918I think you did a soft reset, because a hard reset you lose all of your data. Try a hard reset.

May 18, 2012 at 11:05 am #1066480He is correct a soft reset will not loose your data, but a hard reset will delete all user settings and waypoints. Basically sets it back to the factory settings.
May 18, 2012 at 1:30 pm #1069106Ok whats the how to on both. I pressed the zoom in and out buttons held them while i powered up. I thought i would loose way points to but last time it turned on they were still there. Was that a soft reset? I havent tried it yet today
May 18, 2012 at 4:09 pm #1069169Hard reset;
Press and hold the zoom in and zoom out buttons and simultaneously press and hold the power button. Release
all when the map of the U.S.A. appears.Did you see the map?
May 18, 2012 at 4:14 pm #1069173I did not see the map. I released all buttons when the power came on. I will try that.
By the way I checked it today. Its working again, for now.May 21, 2012 at 4:36 am #1069658I know your unit is working now. Thought I would add this suggestion in case it happens again. My LCX-37 does the same thing. Gets to the screen with the fish pic hangs for a few seconds and shuts off. If you have a map chip installed, remove it and reboot, if it works, try the map chip in the other card slot.
This works for me, it seems my top card slot is dead and causes the behavior you described. Moving the map chip to the lower slot lets the unit boot up and work properly.
