upgrade fro LCX 27 to hds 7

is it worth the upgrade to go from a lcx 27 to HDS7

I am making a similar move and have found a number of factors to consider:

Current unit is out of warranty

The LCX units do not have broadband sonar the HDS does

The HDS and HDS Gen 2 can be upgradeable to Structure Scan

The HDS and HDS Gen 2 Downscan is an outstanding feature to aid in deciphering 2 dimensional sonar readings

The HDS Gen 2 has Structure Map capability

My answer is yes it is “worth it”. If you only want one unit you can sell the LCX 27 to offset some of the cost.

I am finding there is a small learning curve in moving to HDS and Structure Scan from a LCX unit. But in the end it will be well “worth it”.

ABSOLUTELY worth it! I hated my LCX27’s nothing but problems. I love my HDS units. Much easier to navigate, IMHO, and “0” problems once I got past a couple of leaky units from 3 years ago. All the newer units seem to be flawless. I love my HDS units.
