HDS 7 vs HDS Gen 2 7 what is difference

    looking at a HDS 7 that is on sale.. what is difference between the 7 and the Gen 2 7?
    Are their rebates available for the HDS 7 right now. ?

    I bought the gen1 HDS7 because I don’t plan on using the structure scan. If you plan to use structurescan, get the gen2 as it uses a hard drive and not internal memory and flash drives and has considerably faster screen updates.

    Gen 2 with conjunction of structure scan you can log the sonar and have it be an overlay on the map for feature use or do live map overlay. The main difference is the chart speed. Zooming in and out is A LOT faster.

    I have a 2 gen 1 units and one gen 2. The Gen 2 is worth it just for the faster speed on page changes, zooming, and booting up. The structure map is nice, but I haven’t had time to do any mapping with it yet that I’ve saved.
