Thanks to good info from Skeeterbite, I got me the above mentioned unit, believe it’s an Elite 5x DSI. All it has is DSI, no GPS or anything else. I use it in conjunction with my 510c and it’s working nicely.

The first screen shot was the best I’d seen so far. It’s on a private pit where the owner sunk a hog trough or panels, one of the two, do not remember exactly what he said. But you can see the rails very clearly with fish hanging out around it. Very cool.

The 2nd shot shows a bunch of brush or stick-ups on the bottom in one area. We also had a shot of a tree where we could count the branches, sure wish I woulda got a shot of that. After the 2nd trip out with it, I’m impressed and think my $350 was well spent.

Brian, awsome shot. You dont know what you are missing till you get a DSI.

No doubt Skeeter, I’m lovin it. Wasn’t ALL that impressed after the first time out, but now that I messed with it a little last week, I’m feeling much more confident with it. Crazy how you can see the same thing on two screens and see how different they really are.

What kinda set up are you asking about in particular? I’d have to go look at it out in the garage. I know I messed with the color I liked most, and tried fine tuning the color line as much as I could. I have it set on the higher frequency right now, but what I want to do is go over something I know is there, and hit it with both frequencies to see what works better. I can’t seem to find a ‘sensitivity’, per se. Let me know what you’re asking about in particular and I’ll sure give it a look see.

I’m hoping to make it out Tuesday. I’ll try to look thru the menu, see what’s available and let ya know what I find that I did.

I was notified of a question my Elite DVD. It covers all Elite and Mark models plus both DSI and 2D sonar in separate chapters.

Thanks Doc! I may have to look into that myself. I want to get the most out of this unit that I can, even though it’s been nothing but positive thus far.

Did it cover set up well?

I have mine on 800 frequency. I switched it to the lower one yesterday, and just wasn’t as good. I also have the surface clarity on low, and that’s a subject I don’t really know a lot about. I did, however, get some more great pics from this weekend. Really glad I added this unti to my arsenal.

Took a couple more cool shots while on the water Friday. The first shot is my 510 I’ve been using for years, and you can see that the graph couldn’t keep up as it thinks the bottom has jumped up. The second shot clearly shows what’s below. What a valueable tool.

The place I was fishing has ultra clear water; you could see the bottom in 12′ at times, which is not common for Nebraska, to say the least. I looked over the side of the boat and saw it, and figured it’d be a good test for the DSI. This is an area where divers go play quite a bit, and my thoughts are that it’s some sort of tire structure built for the divers, and possibly fish. If you look real close at the bottom, it looks like maybe there’s even a concrete platform that they’re mounted on, or some sort of solid area. Best picture I’ve seen so far….can’t wait to see what else it’ll do!

Couldn’t resist sharing another one. This was last week when I looked down and saw a big baitfish school passing by. You could see the predators hanging out around them below as well. Really loving this thing and what it’s showing me. It’s proving to be a very valuable tool.
