Looking to upgrade the electronics with a couple HDS units + the Structure Scan module and the Sirius weather module and wondering what I need to purchase for extra cables (hopefully I don’t need the Network Expansion Port-2)

I’ll have one at the bow, one at the console on an 18.5′ boat. Figure I will be putting the Structure Scan module in the rear so I can easily remove.

So, given that I have the LGC-4000 (not required but I want to use it) and NMEA-2000 cables to connect two units together, and I’ll be purchasing two HDS units, one StructureScan unit, and an LWX-1 Sirius Weather Module, what else do I need?

I’m thinking three ethernet cables (bow to StructureScan, Console to StructureScan and LWX-1 to StructureScan) unless they are already included?

I am thinking all you will need is the power node for the NMEA and a couple of “T”s and terminations.

Here’s the best example I can help give.
You will need a power node for the new HDS units. Only 1.
You need a red ‘T’ for every device.
So, imagine you start with a ‘T’ and a terminator on one end. Off that ‘T’ run you power node to 12V source.
The other end of the ‘T’ run a red nmea cord the length to next device. At that ‘T’ you might either hook up the LGC 4000 (Great choice by the way) and then another red connector NMEA cable to next device. That could be your 1st HDS head unit. Same thing, put a ‘T’ there. 1 coming from NMEA cable to ‘T’ 1 going to HDS unit and on the other end continue with another red NMEA cable to next device. when reaching you last device, you must terminate from that end also completeing the ‘Loop’
I sure hope this made sense. really not very difficult.
Highly advise using electric grease on each and every connection to avoid moisture issues later.

    Good luck

I already have all of the NMEA-2000 cabling required. I have an existing network with two LMS-520Cs.

    Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

Talking ethernet cables here to share StructureScan and Sirius Weather data.

I’m not totaly sure on this one but your LSS-1 unit has 3 ethernet ports allowing up to 3 units.
Being as the Sirus unit runs through ethernet I’m guessing (would probably even bet) you can run out of Sirus unit into LSS-1 box and recive your data.
    Anyone else agree?

    That’s true.

Do you guys know if there are any ethernet data cables provided with any of the HDS units or modules?

I believe that the LSS1 came with 1 ethernet cable, you will need a power node for nema if you got power from the 520c unit before!
