HDS 8 Gen 2 w/ Lss-1 or Lss-2?

    Do I buy the lss 1 and get the $100 rebate or wait and get the lss-2 hd? Is there that much of a difference between the two?

    That is what I’m hearing as well Brian from the Lowrance guys here. They are telling me that one of the favorite freq used was deleted for a wider distance. Does that sum it up, or is there other changes to it?

    Everything is a rumor, so far they are working out the details as speak and fine tuning it. LSS 2 has not been officially released yet. They may have both frequencies so don’t believe all the gossip out there.

    Definitely not true. There have been a lot of rumors and comments swirling around the Internet about the new Lowrance LSS-2 HD StructureScan, and even some pictures that got posted with early versions of the software while it was still in validation testing. Wait till you see the final product, it is capable of even better imaging than the LSS-1.

    Based on the stats from the lowrance website the 800 kHz is no longer part of the structurescan instead only allowing the 455 kHz freq. with the current model LSS-1 you get way better detail with the 800 freq. compared to the 455 although you do sacrifice scanning distance with the 800.

    Maybe there was a mistake on the Lowrance site but as of now I would take the rebate and buy another navionics chip.

    Again, the Lowrance StructureScan LSS-2 HD DOES include 800 kHz frequencies. I know the website doesn’t currently say that, but yes, the new LSS-2 HD has 800 kHz.

    Thanks for clarifying that Jim. I see Lowrance has updated their website now. That will cut down on the mistruths going forward.

    My friend is on the Lowrance pro staff and he said get the LSS1.
