Running a Second Transducer

  • #1307016

    Hi Guys,

I’m thinking about running a second transducer for my second graph on the console versus networking the two graphs together with a networking cable.

I wouldn’t be running both units for sonar at the same time, but I like the idea of having two transducers in the event one of them does fail versus having just one and networking it to both of my graphs.

Can this be accomplished or will I receive too much interference between the two transducers to make this work? I should mention both would be mounted on a transducer plate within 6″ of each other.

    Thanks in advance!

Just mount it, run the cable to where you need it, and don’t connect it

    until you need it.

You can also connect it and disable the sonar on one of the units.

I have this set up on my boat with a 998 and a 788 on the dash. I just disable the sonar on the 788 for the most part and use it as my gps unit. I do occasionally use them both together, you just have to set on to 83mhz and the other to 200mhz if you have dual beam sonars.

exactly you could run one at 83 and the other at 200 to eliminate cross talk

I have SI transducers on the transom and my trolling motor.
I use a transducer switch to choose the active transducer as all the frequencies are duplicated. I currently only have a single 798.
