HDS 7 does not like the cold part 2

    OK so after a hard reset last week, my unit was back up and running for one day.

    This morning I made the journey out to my fishing spot, and, NOTHING and I mean nothing, it did not even try to turn on…

    sigh, good thing my back up x-15 was willing to fire up and give me a depth.

    I guess it is back on the phone with Lowrance again, and they can have this one back. It did not even want to fire up in the garage this time.

    This is a little disappointing to say the least, as I fish late in the year.

    Mine are outside on the boat and worked flawless as always this morn…

    That is my hope for the next one. I have had x-15’s that have run with no problem for 5 years. Now I am afraid to get rid of my last one, I am thinking I keeping as a back up.

    Same here. Was 26 on Friday morning when I hit the water and both my HDS units worked fine. A little slow on the page changes, but other than that, no problems.

    I spoke to Lowrance this morning (they picked up in about 30 seconds ) and my unit will on its way to Tulsa soon…

    At least it happened at the end of they year, with my daughter playing travelling baskeball, it is time to put the boat in its winter position in the garage…

    Are you sure that wasn’t a typo and you meant 30 hours or a least 30 minutes??

    I sent the unit back on Saturday to Tulsa.

    The season is over for me, but it will be interesting to see how Lowrance turns this around.

    Tell them to store it in the break room fridge for a few hours and then try to start it up.

    Any chance it is a bad power cable?

    Actually that is pretty close to what I told them…after I asked how they tested for the cold

    I tried 4 other units on the same power source, so far only the one returned had an issue…

    And they took my advice and gave my returned unit a freezer test, which it flunked. Well, not totally, it did turn on about 2-3 hours after it was removed from the freezer.

    According to the very nice lady I spoke to, a replacement unit is on the way to me via UPS for the one that does not like the cold…
