For some of us that work with computers that are connected with string and tin cans….could you post what we’re talking about here?

Just read the link you posted and couldn’t figure out what it meant for me. I have a 332c, a 520c an HDS 7 and a LSS-1. How am I effected? Why can’t they just put stuff in plain english.

Great Navico, way to confuse the customer even more with this mumble jumbo, another reason I’m a Hummungbird user now.

This company is doomed to fail.

The only thing that appears to impact Lowrance units it the 5 year advantage program.

Instead of dealing with Lowrance, the customer service part will be placed on the lowrance dealers instead. The dealers will handle the warrenties, discounts for upgrades etc.

As far as the upgrade, 5-year guarantee thingy. I am not sure that is much different than what was happening in the past except for how long they will guarantee that you can upgrade with a discount if your unit fails. doesn’t matter if it is a 15 year guarantee if the discount amount isn’t realistic. But since we are working with the dealer, rather than Navico, the shipping of the unit in/out probably is not going to be an issue anymore as the dealer would probably just take one off of their shelf.

Basically this was a lot of fanfare for not much that impacts us lowly inland fisher people. The biggest impact appears to be for the larger off-coast vessels.

    5-Year Advantage
An alternative to traditional swap and repair programs, the 5-Year Advantage
facilitates fast and flexible service and enhances the overall warranty experience for
Lowrance, Simrad Yachting and B&G customers. In the unlikely event of failure
within the first five years* since purchasing a new product, the program guarantees
that consumers have the option to upgrade to the latest model technology at an
attractive discount. Variable discounts apply – including no-charge options for in-warranty
products. Dealers execute the program using a Navico web-based portal to
    facilitate service swaps and upgrades.

    I can understand that!
