I am lookin to find out how to set up the sonar so that I can view it while traveling at a higher speed.

Currently I can not view the sonar while traveling.

Is ther a setting in the menu that I am missing?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Not sure what the problem is but usually, if you sonar picture disappears at faster speeds, it’s one of two things. Check the angle of your transducer mount. Try tipping it slightly forward or backward.
The other main factor to check is where the transducer is mounted. Make sure it’s not mounted right behind a row of rivets on an aluminum boat. This will cause turbulence which will cause air bubbles. Sonar does not read well under those conditions. Try and find a clean spot at the back of the boat to mount the transducer.

There are other factors but those two need to be checked first and foremost.

Jeff, as Joel said I get readings a WOT…35ish.

If I don’t it’s because of weeds or the xducer tipped up on me.

It is in the hull of the boat.

I will have to mess around with it on the next trip.

Do you costantly change your ping speeds?

Jez, I thought you only talked that way in the cat forum.

Slide your butt under the boat and look for a ridge or other design feature that’s disrupting the water flow over that area.

I have no experience with glass boats or thru the hull xducers, but it sure sounds like water isn’t touching that part of the hull or turbulence in that area of the hull that’s causing the problem.

I try to get on here and help with questions but I have to apologize for my lack of attention lately because of my tournament schedule. Although I don’t know if I need to be here at all since we have Brian, he is right on with the things to look for to get readings at speed.

I’m not really sure of all the variables that come into play all the time, water clarity, surface disturbance, stuff like that, but sometimes I can get readings up to 45 miles per hour in my Ranger bass boat. It’s inside the bilge just in front of the plug.

My “smart phone” is not so smart, it crashed today and has given me fits all summer long. I going to change to a different droid so we’ll see how it goes with the new one. The problem might be that the “smart phone” might be smarter than me!

After I adjusted the ping speed, I was able to read the sonar up to 33mph. After that point it would have gaps in the reading.

I encountered another problem this weekend with the mapping card.
I had my locators updated this spring, specificaly so that I could read the new LOW card I bought.
Now I can not view any depth contours on my old minnesota chips. It still shows waypoints and icons but it does not show any contours.

Any thoughts sugestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jeff,

Make sure the “Map Choice” is set to Lowrance if you’re
    using LakeMaster digital cards.

From the Map page, press MENU, scroll down to Map Data and
press ENT. Scroll down to Map Choice and press ENT.
Select Lowrance and press ENT. EXIT, EXIT.

I tried two Lakemaster chips from 2008, and was unable too view any contour lines, so I tried a 2009 navionics chip and had the same results, all it shows are icons and waypoints but no contour lines.

Were you switching the Map Choice when trying different
    cards?

Maybe it is not set at either.

I’d try a soft reset at this point.

    Soft reset LCX-113C HD

    1. Turn unit OFF
    2. Press and hold the PAGES key
    3. Press and hold the PWR key
    4. Release both buttons when the USA map
    appears
