was at sheels in Kato on sunday. Plastered all over the fishing dept was that lakemaster is not going to make anymore chips for lowrance products. Just wondering if this is true or just a marketing ploy.

Sorry if this was talked about and I missed it.

I also heard that, but I don’t have any evidence to back it up.

Didn’t Johnson Outdoors buy Lake Master? I vaguely remember reading something about it, BUT I could totally be wrong too! Wouldn’t be the first time.

I called lake master and confirmed, Since they were bought by Johnson they are going to make new Lakemaster chips for Humminbird only. 2011 is the last year you can still get Lowrance chips.. I think this sucks as I just bought the HDS this spring.

a bit off from the Bird Lowrance thing but Garmin puts out a heck of a hand held unit and Lake Master works well, time to get the SD chip I guess.

I hear you, but HB is forcing my hand, so I guess I will look to perhaps pick up a LM this year, or give Navionics another try…

Fishing manager at Scheels told me that when he was at the show that because of the Johnson outdoors purchase they are buying up as many Lakemaster chips for Lowrance as they can! It is a big gamble but the word on the street is that they will not make Lowrance chips anymore! This has not been confirmed but a good possibility. I would say that this would be a bad business decision by Johnson but companys have been known to do dumb things before!

I talked with Lakemaster a couple months ago and they said they were still making them but dont offer them on their website but he couldnt tell me how long they would continue making them!

So what I did was buy another new MN and LOW chipx. I now have MN 1 non HD, 2-HD and an insight chip. Then 2-HD LOW chips. I also run a Navionics and its got a few things that lakemaster doesnt but overall lakemaster has a lot more and I like the way it looks as well.

I think Lowrance has something up their sleeve Time will tell.

I called Lakemaster today and they confirmed 2011 is the last year for Lowrance chips. Heard it right from the source.
