Default settings are a great place to start and you should see trees, weeds and rocks in detail like the pictures you have seen on the web. Make sure some of these things are below the boat for sure. Check the position of the transducer to make sure it isn’t blocked by anything. I haven’t heard of any issues with the Structure Scan at all.

My suggestion is to go somewhere that you know what’s on the bottom. The first place I went with mine was a railroad bridge that has about 40 pilings and played around there. It allowed me to make adjustments and see what effect they had while kind of knowing what I should be seeing. Shortened the learning curve big time. You should be able to see whatever is on bottom, and know what it is. I have even seen where someone’s anchor dragged a trench in the bottom. The more time you use it, the more you will understand it and know what settings you want to run.

It takes some time on the water adjusting settings, each color pallet works better with a certain settings, such as contrast, and also be sure to adjust the range to its minimum distance to depths your fishing it works like the zoom on 2D, also frequency makes a difference 800 will give you better definition vs 455. Try some of the other pallet choices, maybe one will work better for you than the default.
