    NOT!!

My Sirrus In Land Weather read “Initializing Sirrus Weather” and zilch was showing on the screen.

I restarted the HDS-8 and that didn’t help.
I called Sirrus on Sunday and the tech there said to disconnect the cables going to the HDS-8 unit. I did that and nothing changed.

He then said “you have to call the manufacturer”. Ok, who’s that? I asked…”I don’t know” he said. Time to hang up the phone BK.

I shot a pm to Ken Sauret and in a very short time I received a pm back from him.

This is a new one for me. I sent the question to Lowrance to see if they have any idea what it could be.

I’ll get back to you as soon as they give me some information.

By the time I made it home from work Lowrance techs had an email sent to me.

In a nutshell they had me disconnect the power to the module. They also sent along some more trouble shooting instructions if that didn’t take care of it.

10 seconds and my In Land Weather was working again!

Now I wish I would have contacted Ken on Saturday night when I needed it!

Ken? What’s your home phone number?! LOL!

This guy might have had a photo with an even larger fish if we could have stayed out longer!

Holy cow, for a second there I thought I was in a time machine that took me back to the 80’s.

Maybe if you called Lowrance in the first place you would have had the problem solved quickly. I have had to call them a couple of times (instructions – I don’t need no stinking instructions). On hold for no more than two minutes and a rep quickly straightened me out. I’ve had nothing but good results from them.

Maybe my post was confusing…to some…maybe all.

To be clear, once I contacted Ken, I had an email telling me how to fix it by the time I arrived home…couple hours at the most.

I don’t know how it could have been taken care of any faster. Maybe if Ken flew out from CA and disconnected the power for me?

    Next time Ken.

From the looks of those catfish you’re getting people on maybe it would be worth a trip!

I’m on here to help people with questions whenever I can. None of us have all the answers but when we help each other the cumulative result is more questions and problems are addressed allowing each of us to enjoy this sport we love so much just a little bit more.

Lowrance Customer Care is absolutely great judging from the responses I have seen around the web. The only problem would be the hours of operation don’t allow after hours questions to be handled promptly. This forum is at least a place where someone might be able to help sooner than waiting for the next business day. Just another resource for all of us to take advantage of.

I’m not happy with Lowrance I have a 2009 H2O and I was hoping for a couple hundred or less. They told me to throw it away and buy a Endura?? What gives I’ve used one and not as nice as the H2O. I’m going to a different brand. My not electronics are The humminbird I think.

I’ve heard of a few people expecting warranty repair or replacement well after the mfg’s warranty has expired.

There is the option of extending the warranty for an additional two years and it is much less expensive than buying a replacement. I think you have a year to decide
if you want to extend the warranty. So if you’re happy
with the unit’s performance I would strongly consider extending the warranty.
