Transducer Problem?

My 37C has been acting up a little as of late. The transducer will not read at times and will only show 1.8′ depth. It has been only doing this every once in a while until last night. Now it just reads 1.8 all of the time. I played with the settings on found out that if I change the first frequency to 50 from 200. It will read depth and show bottom in just dark blues. I assume i need a new transducer. Do you agree? I am pretty sure I replaced this one last summer some time. Is this a common problem?

I think it is very unlikely you need a new transducer. Some of
the 27c’s do that too, mine included but not for very long.
Check your settings. Press menu once, go down to Sonar Features, entr, in the fishing mode box select Shallow Water.
Then in the frequency box select 200. 200 is the best for
shallow water, ie: 60′ or less. Hope this helps. Let us know.

These are the settings I had when I the problem started. I had it set for shallow water and the frequency at 200. Now the only way I can get a bottom reading at all is with the frequency set to 50.

They should be a year warranty, I would call customer service and tell them exactly what is going on. They have heard them all so they will know right away what the problem is. There are ways to test the ducer but I am not sure how to exactly, on the upper end units its a combination of buttons and settings and it will tell you the transducer strength. They will help you out, and if it is still under warranty you will get a replacement.

They had a problem a few years ago with tranducers, the 37C is ~ 5 years old. The elements do go bad and I would get a new one now.

A lot of Pros’ change them annually. They fixed the Production/ISA9002 Issues Now.

I hate Mexican or China Electronic’s, harder to find a Good USA product.

You will find that “Airmar” Like the TM260 make great transducers that work with Lowrance.
