My new Elite 5 is compatable w/Navionics Premium, Lakemaster, Fishing Hot Spots, etc. Which one do you guys prefer, and why?
My first unit w/software compatability, so user-friendliness in important. Use will be primarily N. Wisconsin and Ontario.
    Thanks all!

Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s a chip with both WI and Canada on it. For WI I would suggest the lakemaster. It’s pretty much plug and play.

As I have understood, I thought Lake Master was the go to chip for Canada as well.

I’m searching for a chip for British Columbia as well for this summer.

I have the Navionics chip and it has Lake of the Woods and the Winnipeg River on it. We fish the Winnepeg near Whitedog.

Which Navionics chip do you have? I was just in Minaki and my chip had maps from lake of the woods to the inlet end of Rough Rock, but the quality of the maps were terrible. Shore contours were blocky and no depths. It is an older chip, so the newer versions may be better…

Did you change your location in map data to reflect northern MN? No contours and blocky is what you see unless it is changed.

I have both Lake Master and Navionics and it is really hard to say which one is better because it really depends on the area you are fishing. In my experience it comes all the way down to the specific area on a body of water. I have HDS7 and HDS8 units that I switch the chips back and forth in. Lately I have been doing a lot of comparing sections of Lake Pepin, the Mississippi and St Croix rivers. The LakeMaster will be much more accurate on one section but move a mile the the Navionics will be the winner but both will be close enough for most purposes. If you can go to a store that has them both and will plug them into a running unit, check the specific lakes you are interested in.

I honestly don’t recall which it was set on. I tried several regions (the best one actually wasn’t the most “logical” option. I am wondering if the newer chips are better.
