I just bought 2 hds 5’s, I have them linked with an ethernet cable. I have 1 Navionics card and I can only get the unit that it is in to read it. I have navionics selected in the menu, is there somthing else I need to do to get the second unit to read my card? Any help would be much appreciated.

I don’t think map data can be shared over ethernet only waypoints and sonar data.

The guy at Cabelas told me it would, I just took it for granted that he knew what he was talking about. Thanks for the info.

Call Lowrance customer service. I’ve had to call them a couple of times last week and got someone from C/S in a couple of minutes. Linking an HDS7 to HDS8 via ethernet cable and getting down/side scan (my goof – forgot to turn on the down/side scan switch).

I’m almost 100 percent sure you cannot share map data over any connection (nmea or ethernet). Sure wish you could. If you find out different I’d love to know how to do it.

Yes you only get chip info displayed on the unit the chip is in they don’t share graph’s but mark way points if both units are on. Stan

I have 3 HDS units and you do have to have a chip for each unit. It would be very nice if they did share chips.
