HDS Wiring Question

There are 2 cables coming off the power/data cable.

One is the network, I assume I can tape that off. I am also hooking up the structure scan but nothing else.

The other is the power cable and it has a black (-), red (+), and a yellow (accessory wake up line). I am running the black and red wires into my fuse box. What do I do with the yellow wire? I don’t know what an accessory wake up line is.

    Thanks for helping.

The yellow Is not needed to power the hds unit. However I use this wire to turn on the SS when I power on my main hds unit on. If you dont use it, the SS will stay on unless you have another way to cut the power. Since it is mounted right underneeth my console it was easy to do.

i just installed an hds on my boat last week. the yellow wire is connected to the lss-1 yellow wire if you want it the lss to be powered when your hds turns on. the lss will not be powered unless the yellow wire on it is powered. other wise it needs to be connected to a switch.
there is a diagram with the structure scan info(lss-1).

I saw the diagram for both units. The diagram for the HDS has the yellow going no where. The diagram for the structure scan has the black to negative, the red to a fuse then to positive, and the yellow to a switch then positive. If I am understanding you correctly, the yellow from the HDS connects to the yellow from the structure scan and when you power on the HDS, the structure scan comes on also. When you turn the HDS off the structure scan powers down.

The yellow wire is labeled “Accessory Wake Up line” in the HDS installation manual.

The manual also states “Connect the yellow wires together. When the Accessory Wake Up line is used to connect units with the accessory wake up feature, you can power up certain connected devices from one location, including digital sonar optimizers and expansion ports.”

The StructureScan has the yellow accessory wake up wire but still needs to be powered (fused) and grounded with the red and black wires.

The HDS unit becomes the switch for the StructureScan when the yellow wires are connected.
