Lowrance Upgrade Time

I am ready to upgrade to New Units and looking for some help

I am running a bass boat with HDS Gen 2 Units.. I have a point 1 antenna, plus Gen 2 structure scan
I am running a HDS 10 at console and HDS 8 on the Front.. Both Units are linked with a backbone.

I want to upgrade to HDS Carbon 12 at Console and HDS Carbon 9 on bow.. Need to understand everything I need to purchase to make the conversion and figure out pricing… Also which way to go 3D structure scan or Total Scan.

You can just buy new carbon head units and plug and play. If you want to upgrade to 3D, then you have new SS ducer and box to mount. Otherwise the way you have the HDS Gen2 mounted or set-up can easily be replaced with Carbon units, plugging into the same power/transducer/Ethernet/Structure Scan cables.

3D will give you better Structure Scan range and clarity in my opinion.

Thank you for the quick reply.. I going to upgrade from the Gen 2 Structure scan and was not sure if I should go Total Scan or 3D Structure.. From your reply if I buy the 12 Bundle and 9 w/o Transducer I shouldn’t need any other items or cables etc.

@DanONeil….this is the exact way I rigged my boat this weekend. HDS 12 carbon with 3D and Carbon 9 w/o ducer.

3D ducer to 3D box
HST-WBL high speed transducer to 12 carbon
Power to 12
Power to 9
6′ Ethernet from 12 to 3D box
6′ Ethernet from 9 to 3D box
Power the 3D box

your rig should be similar except maybe a 15′ Ethernet from 9 on bow to 12 on console.

Since you are running a 10 and 8 HDS Gen2 units currently, you can remove the LSS-2 box from your boat and free up more space for more tackle. Its not required with the new units. You could sell it and make some money too.

Thanks all for the reply from the info I have here I should be able to purchase the above 2 items and be all set I just need to remove the LSS-2 box and install the 3d box in it’s place hook up the 2 Ethernet cables used on the LSS-2 Box, remove the LSS-2 Transducer, install the 3D in it’s place, Replace the two heads and be ready..
