I am having issues with my dash HDS. I worked fine 2 days ago, I get home from the lake and turn it on to name waypoints and the touchscreen doesn’t work. I tried to calibrate the touchscreen but my device will not go to the calibration screen. Help!!!

So you held the Waypoint key and pressed power, released the waypoint key when the calibration screen pops up?

If you have then I would turn the unit on and see if you are able to save your waypoints just to be safe. Then I would update with the latest software(5.5) If that doesn’t work try getting to the calibration setup again.

Then do a soft reset(hold pages, press power…release pages on beep) or you can restore defaults in the menu. Lastly hard reset.

I have tried the steps to a calibration reset but my device goes to another screen. I have tried the soft reset and it goes to the same screen. I have downloaded the new update but without the touchscreen it will not let me upload, it sees the sd card but will not let me choose the option

Could you post a couple pics of the screen you are getting? I want to make sure I understand what you are seeing. Take a pic of the screen when you try to go to calibration mode for starters.
So you are saying that it is not recognizing you touching the screen at all?

This may not be the cause of the issue because you said it DID work at one time, but if the screen is not responding to your touch at all, the only thing I could think of was that perhaps your boat is not properly grounded or the ground is glitch and it would give you an issue like is described here:

I have tried to calibrate the unit, I have tried to reset the unit as well. No matter which way I turn the unit on ( regular power on, calibrate power on, or reset power on, the unit goes to the ACCEPT screen that pops up every time I turn on either one of my units.

I haven’t tried the reset on mine recently but I believe that brings the accept screen anyway. The calibration mode is completely different so either the steps you are doing are not correct or its not acknowledging it for some reason.
That leads back to my question about the install and the link I posted. How is your unit wired into the boat? The screen requires a relatively high level of resistance to react to a the “touch”. Otherwise it would have false touches by water drops, etc.
What are you seeing for voltage on the battery that powers it? The touch units require a higher level of voltage than the non touch models due to the resistance I referenced. Perhaps hook up a charger to it and leave it on there a while and then try again. Honestly there are very few issues with this aspect of the units. Most of the problems were where people were trying to use them in “portable” situations like ice fishing.

My unit was wired at the dealership. I bought a new Skeeter in March and it has 2 HDS units on it. It worked fine on Wednesday and Thursday it didn’t work. My unit on the bow of the boat still works perfectly.

Are both touch units? Try swapping the two units just for fun and see what happens.
To confirm, these are the steps you are following to attempt to calibrate correct?…
    Calibration Procedure:
    1) With the HDS Gen2 Touch unit off, press and hold the waypoint key (indicated by the flag icon) and then power on the unit.
    2) Continue holding the waypoint key for approximately 10 seconds, until you hear a two tone beep.
    3) Release the waypoint key and follow the calibration instructions on the screen.
    4) When the calibration procedure is done, the unit will boot as normal.
