Iam going be wiring elite ti2 9’s on a tiller. They came with a 3amp fuse. Manual says 7amp. I’m using 14 ga wire.

Why would they include a 3 amp fuse and have the manual say 7?

    Thanks, Matt

I’m wondering if the 7 amp was a typo. What does the manual say for max draw of the unit?

    Now I’m really confused…..

Found this online. But, dug out the hard copy of the manual and it says 3amp.

Guess I’ll just stick with the 3amp fuse.

    Thanks, Matt

the way I read it is the difference is in what voltage you are using to power the 9 inch unit,ie,7 amp fuse is for 12 volt and the 4 amp fuse is for 24 volt.

I had 3 amp fuses for years with an HDS 9 Gen 3 and an HDS 8 Gen 2, no issues. I put 5 amp fuses in my new boat when I installed the graphs, but I actually have a couple 3 amp fuses set aside to swap out the next time I’m in the boat. I know next to nothing about electricity, but I’ve never had an issue with the 3 amp fuses, and having a lower amp fuse that’s closer to the max amp draw makes me feel a bit better. I’m aware that when you change the voltage draw it changes the amperage draw, and vice versa, so I’m sure that’s got something to do with the 7 amp recommendation, but I’ll stick with what’s worked for me.
