Hey everyone. I recently purchased a Motorguide trolling motor with a built in transducer with a Lowrance 7 pin connection. I want to pair it with a Vexilar SonarPhone unit, which has a 4 pin connection. I can’t find a retail adapter cable, so am considering a cable splice. I have the pin definitions from both Lowrance and Vexilar, but they don’t seem to match. I’m hoping someone knows more than me on this topic.

    Here are the pin definitions:
    Lowrance
    1) Depth+ (red)
    2) Speed (blue)
    3) Speed (orange)
    4) Temp+ (yellow)
    5) Depth- (black)
    6) Depth ground (shield)
    7) Temp- (shield)

    Vexilar (2D and temp only)
    1) Black and Shield
    2) Blue (Goes to transducer)
    3) Not used
    4) Yellow (Goes to thermistor for temp)

This is the way I see it vex 1 to low 7,6,5 vex 2 to low 4, and vex 4 to low 4. Not sure if it will work but this is how I would wire it.

I say good luck, Yellow to yellow for sure for temp, vex blue to Lowrance red for depth, Vex black to Lowrance 6. Have the fire extinguisher close by. lol

Supercat, that seems to have worked, except the temp reading indicates 103 degrees. That doesn’t seem quite accurate. 2d depth is good, though!

I talked to Tom Zenanko at Vexilar and they made one for my XI5. I would have to turn the gain down a lot because of the noise. But it did allow me to get a front depth reading in the rear on my Ipad.
Now I just use their Transducer on my Ultrex. Unbelievable performance for a kind of gimmicky unit.

Glenn, I’ve been talking to someone else over there, but will try again with Tom. I’m sure they can do a better job than me.
