Lowrance 37c depth reading problem

    Hello,

I have a 2007 Lund Pro-V 2025 SE with a Lowrance 37c depth finder on it. When in about 4 feet or less of water it almost never reads the depths, the screen almost freezes for a few seconds, then read for about a foot, then freeze again? I’ve tried angling the transducer every which way, but that doesn’t seem to help. I currently have transducer level to slightly pointed down at back of boat. This happens when I run at any speed. Even when I have deeper water 10+ feet, from about 15-25 MPH it has touble reading depth. Was wondering if anyone had this problem and if there is a solution or any ideas out there?

    Thanks for any help,
    Brock

I have a similar problem with my 337df and not sure there is a solution for readings in very shallow water. I’ve read similar complaints on other sites. Likely you have gone to the Lowrance website to make sure you have the most recent software upgrade. One was supposed to have addressed this but not sure it was successful.

Only comment to make re readings at higher speeds: Transducers do wear out and become less sensitive. One option without a purchase might be to find a friend with a compatible unit and try yours on their boat and visa versa. I bought a new transducer and did help. You can also change your sensitivity setting to manual so the auto function doesn’t decrease sensitivity under power. I think you might get more bottom reading but also lots of clutter.

    Good luck,

Are you sure you have the correct transducer selected in the settings?

If you have the newest software update there is a shallow water setting. I believe it is in the sonar setup menu. Helped my LMS522 & X27 shallow water reading problems.

    Hello,

What would be the correct transducer setting?

Transducer setting; There should be a silver tag on the
transducer cable near the plug. It will have the model #
on it. I’m guessing HST-WSBL. Your transducer choices are
in the menu under Installation. Also, like hookem said, in
the setup under FISHING MODE, select “Shallow Water”.

When I look at the cable it says, “extreme angle” that is all… and in setting under transducer type is 50 kHz and 200 kHz, 50 only, 200 only, or High power array… which one do i pick, i currently have been using the first option. Where would the “shallow water” fishing mode be located? i couldn’t find that either…

With out seeing it, I’m not familiar with that transducer.
The most common transducer for fishing natural lakes or any
water less than 100′ deep is the HST-WSBL, part # 000-0106-72
It’s an 83/200 khz. 200 only would be best for shallow water.
Check your software version. It should be 2.5.0. If not,
update it and then you should find “shallow water” under
Fishing Mode in the features or setup.

I’ve tried to up date it, but won’t update my sonar… I’m not computer savy, but once i click on link, it will save to computer, but i can’t run it or “zip and unzip” it… what does that mean?
