I have used Suffix elite for years, and it is really good. I did try the new Suffix advance this year on one rod and I really like it. Similar to the elite but with less stretch. I will switch a few more over to advance next year.

Thanks for recommendation, I read on another thread you also like Blue Label for leader is that 4lb too? Also how are you connecting to leader, knots or swivel? Many break offs?

Same here man wanna go as light as I can get away with, I know a pike or two will happen but I’d hate to lose big eye

I use 8 to 12 lbs blue label for leaders when pike are in the area. And if targeting pike i use 20. Never get bit off. Very good stuff

Chris, for walleyes all I use is straight 4 pound Elite, no leader (when using a rod/reel)

I’ve never once broken a walleye off using it through the ice.

Four pound isn’t too heavy for panfish either (though I prefer 2lb just for better action)

Last winter I had a good size sturgeon on (45-50″) for over an hour using 4 pound test. Finally broke him off trying to get the head up the hole lol

On my rattle reels and tip-ups I generally use 20lb Blue Label or STS as as a leader. (Sometimes lighter or heavier depending on what’s on hand). It catches walleyes and holds up awesome for pike.

If I was going for monster pike on trophy water I’d up the size, but for 99% of my tip up fishing 20lb is plenty and pulls double duty perfectly

It’s so nice not having to swap out leaders for targeting different species. Just put some 20lb leader on your tips and rattle reels and go fishing!!
