Fished out of Zippel Bay Resort and found the fish moving into their summer mode. Still quite a few shallow on rocks/gravel/sand and some in super shallow grass due to flooding. Lake is full of debris ranging in size from full trees to partial docks and everything in between. Extreme caution must be used to avert a potential disaster.

Fish came on jigs with frozen shiners & crawlers or on spinners (gold) with crawlers.

26″ was the largest walleye and just crossing 40″ for northerns.

Thanks to my fishing partners Karen and Chad for making this a memorable week.

Also a shout out to Nick and Deanna at Zippel Bay Resort. Wonderful, friendly place to stay.

What caused the scars on this beast? Prop? Bigger fish?

The most common size was 17 – 22 with many small saugers and a few small eyes in the mix. Backwater bays were full of power packed snot rockets.
