Saw a report from Sportsman’s yesterday that stated 3 1/2 feet where they’ve been. That came from one of the guides so take it for what it’s worth.

Went out of Morris Point this past weekend. Ice was all of my 30″scoop, up past my elbow. Estimated at about 43″. Had one 8 inch extension on the Pistol, was down to the plate, with the wheelhouse on the ice (no blocks), before I broke through. Buddy had an ion with one 12″ extension, no problems.

The significant ice making might be done for the foreseeable future thank goodness.

I was up on both Wigwams road and Adrian’s road last weekend. 16 and 17 miles past Pine Island.
They were both over 30”. I didn’t have to use an extension (fishing in portable) but if it was another inch or two thicker I would have had to or if I had a wheeled house.
This is with a strike master 24 volt.

Just got back a few days ago from Arnesen’s sleeper. Solid 30″ maybe more but we didn’t measure.

Fishing was decent with a few keeper pike, limited on eyes/saugs, 22 jumbos and released plenty from 16 – 24.5″. Our 3 biggest fish came unbuttoned of course. doah

That was a workout for the 24 volt I am sure. Any issues?

    No issues, it worked great.
I didn’t run and gun so only drilled 6 holes in the 3 days.
A couple of times I must have put to much downward pressure on it because it would stall out. There was a thread on here and guys mentioned that so when it happened I wasn’t concerned. It was the operator and not the machine.

Very cool thanks for the update! It wouldnt be real fun running and gunning with any auger with ice that thick for sure.

Sounds like a truck crossed a heav in 4 mile bay in the wrong spot this morning.

That has to be one heck of terrifying moment. I’d have every fluid that flows through my body running down my legs if that happened to me.

Yeah, they got on the wrong road and try to take it cross country to get to the correct one they paid for and went over an ice heave. Not a smart move at all. Glad everyone is OK.

Last Sunday on Adrian’s road across 4-mile Bay, there were stakes directing people to a parallel road. The stakes blocking the old road didn’t go all the way across the opening. They did when we went back in in the evening because a guy tried to go around the stakes and dropped his left front tire in. Didn’t take too long for him to get pulled out.
