I was in the Baudette area Friday through Monday. A forecasted 1″ snowfall Saturday night into Sunday morning turned into like 8″ in Baudette. That was an unpleasant surprise. Saturday we fished on Adrians road which can take you literally as far as you would ever want to go, but no idea the condition after that snowfall. Sunday we went West out of Long Point who only received about 3 inches so snow was not a problem there, but man, getting around off the road is a mess this year.
The East side off Adrians road there is not many places you can get off the road because of all the busted up ice. I’m talking HUGE sheets of ice that stick 10 feet plus in the air and are like 8 inches or more thick.
Long Pt has some massive pressure ridges right out front and roads navigate around them East and West of the resort.
Prior to this weekends snow there wasn’t much snow or it was very hard. Travel would be easy provided you are in an area without all the busted up ice.
I talked to guys that went out of Morris on Friday and they said travel was easy, so they must not have the busted up ice there.
I would think if you are going around zippel, morris areas you should be good for truck travel most places based on what I heard from guys this weekend, but elsewhere it may be tough in the main lake at least the area near Pine Island anyways.
