LOTW, Red, Mille Lacs good for permanent icehouses this last weekend of walleye?

So, this is the last weekend of the walleye fishing season and my friends are debating whether to go to LOTWs, Red, or Mille Lacs.

Will the ice be good enough for an Ice Castle 8’x17′ shack on all of these lakes?

Also, what lake would you go to?

All the lakes will have enough ice. If I had to make the choice it would be LOW. Red can be hit or miss this time of year, Mille Lacs has been super slow with all the bait in the system now.

Where does the bait come from?

Mille Lacs ice will hold you as well no problem…. But I am a little concerned with this warm up and wind forecast for Friday evening. I’m expecting some shifting, and possible heaves forming. Could be wrong. I’m going to try a smaller lake this weekend. If the season was still open Monday I’d head to Red. Some good reports coming from there the last couple weeks. Good luck!

I’d go to Red or MLacs. LOTW is open for a while yet!
