Lost temperature

Somewhere between April and late may, the temperature in the si duecer fory 1199 decided to stop working. Anyone know if there is maybe a setting that got reset on accident that I need to switch? I looked through the menu and couldn’t find one. I have a high speed also on the back connected to a smaller unit that works, but I have to have that unit on in order to get the temp from the network.

Bought it a year ago in march, if it’s the transducer could it possibly be a warranty thing still? Hoping it’s just an option somewhere i havent found yet, I really don’t want to have to dig around under the console, again, to remove the transducer cable.

Does the “smaller unit that works” have the same transducer cable as your 1199? If so, disconnect your network and check both transducers on your 1199.

    x2 with Ron

Here’s a couple troubleshooting ideas. In the settings do you have it set to “advanced”? I don’t think there’s one to turn temp on or off. However if there is it might be available if it’s set to advanced.

If you can’t do the test above:
Do you know someone who has a head unit that is working? Take a known good head unit and see if there’s any change. I think the 900 series may use the same si ducer so that might help find an appropriate tester.

Warranty – isn’t it a one year warranty from Bird? I had to use mine a year ago and it was literally the 11th month. Yep, it was the transducer

If your running any networking, you can turn temp on/off.
Other than that. Make sure you have the right duecer selected and beyone that, troubleshooting with another duecer.

Temp will work out of water so you can do that in the garage.

It is set to advanced. The 2 trancduecers are each connected separately, small unit is a 788.

For a test, if I rigged the base up front (also for a 788) which runs on the terrova us2 and get temperature that would point to the transducer wouldn’t it?

I’ll have to look at the warranty, if I’m on my own for a new 200 something dollar duecer I think having to have the 788 on to see temps will work just fine.

Are you talking about connecting your 1199 to the us2 on the Terrova? If yes, then yes to your question.

Basically you’re looking to confirm this via two avenues.

    1. Get your 1199 to show temp using a different ducer that has temp working
    2. Get your existing si ducer to show temp on any head unit(that has working temp) that’s not the 1199 in question.

Either works to identify whether it’s the 1199 head unit or the SI ducer.

I’m thinking it probably is the duecer, I could get temp off the 788 duecer last night, but not the SI one(they are networked). I just put the separate transducer on for the 788 in early may and I know I got temps before that.

If they’re networked then select the 788 for temp and your done.

    Just to clarify,
    when you say
you are not getting temp on the 1199
it shows the temp display box without any temp
    or
it is not showing the temp box on the display?

No temp box at all with just the 1199 on. I set it to pull temp of the other duecer for the 788 so once it powers up I get temp. Must be the temp in the SI duecer because it doesn’t show up in the network as even being an option. The sonar part seems to work just fine though on the si, wonder if a wire got pinched off in the cable.

Either way not a big enough issue to warrant spending money on another transduecer.

That’s really weird. I kept thinking about this over the weekend and eyekatcher hit my next question.

My thinking was that a temp box missing is a setting. A box there without a reading is a ducer.

What you’re seeing invalidates my working theory. Like you said, either way you’ve got a solution without dropping money.
