I gotta disagree with ya Dutch. Today’s players cannot hold the jock straps of guys like this.

    These guys were tough SOB’s

Las Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Colin Miller broke his nose in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, according to head coach Gerard Gallant.

The injury occurred in the third period seconds before the Washington Capitals scored to extend their lead to 5-2. Capitals forward T.J. Oshie hit Miller in the face while passing the puck to Nicklas Backstrom, who fed Michal Kempny for the goal.

Miller stayed in the game but later could be seen with bandages on his face to stop some bleeding. Gallant didn’t say if the injury will effect Miller’s availability for Game 5 on Thursday.

It’s been a great series. I grew up in DC watching Dale Hunter, Peter Bondra and Olaf Kolzig for years. Then spent years watching the Ovechkin teams flounder in the playoffs like the Wild teams now. It’s pretty awesome to watch Ovechkin finally play 100% on defense instead of just on offense. Pretty fun team to watch if you ask me.

Also getting pretty sick of the national coverage talk about how Vegas isn’t getting any calls when TJ Oshie gets cross checked 4 times every time he goes in front of the net, has taken numerous boardings and shots to the head. Started to get ugly at the end of the last game. Should be a great end to the season Thursday night!

Reaves is nothing but a punk ass goon. He’s been like that his whole career. He was like that when he played for the Blues too. When he cross checked Carlson in game 1 in front of the net and then scored, there should have been a penalty called. Instead, they score to tie and go on to win. Well in game 2, the same thing happened and he got called for it, and the Capitals went on to score during that power play. Its pretty obvious that Vegas is determined to play a dirty, chippy style of hockey because they’re losing this series which is why Reaves was sent out there late in game 4.

The Caps are now firmly in the driver’s seat with this one. I predicted Caps in 5 and Vegas is going to have to play with their @sses on fire to avoid this very fate.

Reaves is going to get tattooed on the boards if the Caps go up by 2 or more. He’s one of about 5 punks in the NHL that I’d just love to see laid out with an old school Scott Stevens runaway train open ice hit. What do you want to bet Reaves sees very limited ice time as soon as Vegas is behind in G5?

I heard this morning that the Caps have blown the most 3-1 series leads in ALL OF PRO SPORTS…

BUT… I think Ovie gets his cup in game 6…he’s been fun to watch, the Caps powerplay is a thing of beauty!

    Now do Tom Wilson.

I hope the Caps close the deal. I couldn’t imagine being a Caps fan and losing the cup after being this close.

I’m not saying Wilson doesn’t throw any dirty shots but most of the time he’s playing hard and pisses someone off who then takes a run at him, and Wilson in turn takes a run at another one of their players. AND Wilson can actually play hockey, unlike Reeves. I completely agree with Grant’s assessment.

Those are rose colored glasses. They are the same player. You are just making excuses for Wilson.

Hockey wouldn’t be as fun without these players. Wilson was suspended for 3 games this playoffs for breaking a guys jaw and knocking him out of the playoffs. I believe there was another play where there was a question if he’d get suspended.

I “hate” both guys. But I am glad they play because they are entertaining.

I’m the guy who defended Matt Cook when he played for us.

Yeah to call Reeves a goon and then applaud Wilson is complete hypocrisy. As pug says, they are the same guy, both get away with and get caught equally. I actually think Wilson is a bit cheaper than Reeves, but its splitting hairs.

The first 3 games of this series were fantastic. This is a big game for Vegas tonight for obvious reasons.

I figured that Vegas would win if the series was short, Caps win in a long series.
I could be completely wrong on that.

Vegas has played tough at home but more impressive is the Caps record on the road this playoffs. What is it 9-3? Insane!

Pug, have you seen that “pug bongos” commercial? I think of you every time I see it. LOL

Yes and when the one pug starts getting up at the end I flinch. I hope they didn’t edit out it falling off the pedestal.

That’s just another thing I like about hockey. You can “argue” about whose the bigger agitator.

I’m so bummed right now that the series is over. There were good stories for both teams so I didn’t even care who won, I just wanted to keep watching them play.

You’re probably right. But he’s on my team so I guess that makes you look at him more favorably. Just like like you and Matt Cooke.

Super pumped the Caps won it all. Wish I still lived there for this. I feel like a half champion. Now if the Wild could win one I’d be a whole champion. That could take awhile……

Not much of a surprise outcome to this one. Ovie & Co were not going to be denied this year. Just shows how hard it is, when a team like this can fall short year after year, it’s great they finally got there.

Vegas had their day, they really peaked in the series vs the Jets. Now the hard part starts, you got gifted a playoff ready team once by the league, now it’s time to put on the big boy pants and do it the hard way like everyone else.

Ovechkin has undergone a huge transformation from brooding and sulking attitude that suggested that it was all about him to being a total team leader. What a difference.

I’m happy for Oshie as well, another MN name on the cup.

That Oshie interview afterwards, the pic of him hugging his dad. Rivers of tears flowing. Man, I had no idea his dad has Alzheimers. Oshie is an easy guy to root for, but this certainly made it easier.

Well, the Cup will be in MN this summer!!! Niskanen and Oshie.
