Drifting and the wind will be an issue, but both lakes are going to be spared from a direct hit. The operations I’ve seen up there will keep right on rolling with this amount of snow. This isn’t snowmageddon.

Little early to be pulling the plug. Still lots of time left.
January 15, 2020 at 7:18 pm #1906561I left LOW this morning and it took a long time to go 12 miles to get off the ice. It completely white. The 3 hour ride home was a little while knuckled as well, quite a few vehicles in the ditch.
I’m heading back on Sunday.January 15, 2020 at 8:18 pm #1906576I was on Mille Lacs today and the front/storm killed the bite. Got a 20” landed and some smaller ones but after the snow it was done. Rough year for the ice for sure. Brutal tonight, snowmageddon tomorrow then what? Back to 30 degrees?

early ice is actaully in February this year!
January 16, 2020 at 9:19 am #1906661I’m getting a bit frustrated too. And I don’t know it might not be that early to pull the plug? Looking like another round of snow next weekend after this weekend and gets kinda hard to fish with 2 plus feet of snow on the lake… maybe more at least on the smaller lakes
Sounds like LOTW is the best bet but that is a haul for most

Posts: 2291January 16, 2020 at 10:43 am #1906707Morts is not allowing any wheelhouses out this weekend and pulling their sleepers in. Might be the smart move. With no houses on the lake clean up should be much easier. It’s when the wind drifts the snow up against the houses and trucks is when the problems begin. Plus tearing and digging everything up to get people and houses off the ice. Talked to Jr’s and West Wind and both were reluctant in putting people on the ice.

Yeah, the more I look at the weather the more Plan “B” will become plan “A”. Looks like it will be a meat raffle weekend.
January 16, 2020 at 11:21 am #1906730Hopefully those winds will blow the snow off some lakes. That happens a lot especially in flatter areas like ND.
January 16, 2020 at 11:44 am #1906740Had a buddy going up to The Pines on Winnie, they just called him and said don’t bother coming – The road is shut down, can’t get thru the slush and with the weather coming no body can get out.

I’m starting to rethink leaving on Sunday. Its -13 here this morning. Maybe a Baileys & coffee while watching IDO on Sunday is more fitting!

Hillmans road on the East side has been closed to wheelhouses since the last storm. This wind/storm will not help at all.

You can have it all!
