I know over on the fishing side they have some trae/swap trips or seats for fishing weekends and oppurtunities. I thought it might be nice to bring some of this to the hunting side of things. I am looking to get over to Minnesota and get after some grouse one weekend or weekday depending on schedule. I have a well seassoned German shorthaired pointer that is 6 and a 3 year old also very well seasoned in the field. I am not looking to hunt anyones private honey holes but if anyone is into chasing grouse around in MN and knows more about it I would love to tag along. I have harvested pheasants, prairie chickens, sharptail grouse and partridge over my dog and would love to add ruff grouse and possible woodcock to his list of game harvested. I have hunted Sodak pretty extensively over the past 5 years. This past season I was able to harvest roughty 60 roosters over my hound outside of guiding and close to 20 grouse. I have access to hunt alot of ground both east and west of the river, reply or send a PM if anyone is interested. – QB

    Quintin,

Lots of public land to hunt in grouse territory over here in MN. I went out last year for the first time in many years and jumped quite a few birds and bagged a few also but beware that there is a chance of losing your dog to body grip traps on public land. Cant remember the total number of dogs killed last year but it was quite a few. Had a dog killed 30 miles north and 30 miles south of where I hunt. I have decided not to hunt grouse on public land until this gets changed. I do take my dog over to ND for several hunts each year but she is too valuable to us as a family member to risk with the body grip traps. Hope you have a safe & productive hunt.

Lots and lots of prime grouse land up by my dad’s property in Malmo… I’m not sure if I’d be able to join you with baby number #2 due later this summer but if the timing works we should try to figure out a Sept/October full moon trip that included some night trolling on Mille Lacs. Even if I couldn’t join you’d be welcome to head up to our farm any time.
