Looking for some new boots

After 20 years, my Sorel boots are leaking a bit. They have had a good run. Looking for some recommendations on new boots for ice fishing. I use my boots for ice fishing, snow blowing and playing with the kids in the snow. Would like something waterproof, lighter and would seal pretty high up to keep snow out. I can add some warmth with thick socks.

Thinking about the Baffin Snow Monster boots, but am seeing people love the Pac boots.

    Thanks in advance!

I got a pair of snow monsters last year at the start of ice up. I’ve nothing bad to say about them. Light, easy on and off, warm. I was out on LOW this past weekend, no problems in the frigid sub zero temps we experienced. The traction on glare ice is also surprisingly good as advertised.

I’m about to buy snow monsters or eigers both from Baffin. Fishwater where did you buy yours? I wear a 10.5 shoe and am planning on ordering 12s.

I got them off Amazon. They were super cheap at the time, sub $130 if I remember correctly. That was the primary reason I was willing to try such a new boot. If you wear a 10.5, I think a size 12 will be a good fit for ice fishing.

I’m telling you, I went thru the Boot deal a couple years ago. Went to Gander, Cabelas and tried on all the high end boots. I would have paid $1000.00 for a good fitting warm pair of boots. Ended up with Mickey Mouse boots. I would have purchased Bunny Boots but couldn’t find a new pair in my size. Never 2nd guessed my decision.

i used to wear sorels too. I still have them and use them for bumming around outside or shoveling but if im going ice fishing i will usually bring my baffin titans now. Super light, tall, and very warm. Also waterproof. Only issue is they are a very large boot so it can be a struggle getting them under bibs but its doable. For reference i wear a size 10.5 Wide shoe and i purchased size 12. Perfect fit

I highly recommend the Cabelas Predator Extreme Pac Boots. I went to cabelas looking for the warmest boot they had, with the most thinsulate insulation. At the time, I was working outside alot. Since getting these boots my feet have not been cold, my toes either. I have had them for atleast 5 years, no problems at all. They are on sale now too.

I’ve had Baffins a few years now. First boots I’ve owned that keep my feet warm. Really like the fact that I can just slip them on and off. No laces!!

You got lucky, mine didn’t.Same with the striker hardwater bibs. These were the nicest boots I wore, but had to return them for the issues noted.I wore them on the ice once, with legs partially unzipped.I ended up going with Cabelas inferno boots, nice once broken in.

I would never buy Rocky boots again, mine fell apart after only 4 years.I used to wear the soles off the Sorels before they leaked.

Cabela’s Predator extreme pac boots have been awesome for me for a few years now. I really like the removable liner concept; allows me to dry the boots thoroughly after each use (even a quick dry on the dashboard). Dry feet stay warmer, longer. I even use them for deer hunting and late season bow hunting…. but they are not really a “walk-around-all-day-in-the-woods boot, but I’ve not seen a better option. My entire family owns them, as do some friends. At a balmy -10 yesterday, my son mentioned that of all his gear the Cabela’s Predator boots have been the best purchase, and he has a penchant for high end expensive gear (ex Sitka).
My previous boots, La Crosse Iceman and Sorel Pac’s are not as warm. I suffered greatly from plantar-facia in those boots too, the Cabelas give me more arch support.
The cons: Price (they go on sale), feel huge and stiff…. but all ice fishing boots will be? They run small- buy a size or two up. Also, the Cabelas removable liners are no longer available. I am using a liner of thinsulate and cambrelle from ‘The Felt Store- Amazon’ and they work great as spare.

I’m not familiar with the Baffin’s. If I were looking for the best boot out there for ice fishing/ cold-boat-open-water fishing, I’d start with removable pac-liners inside an insulated boot (especially the footbed) as basic criteria. I think an insulated footbed is critical, as are roomy toes.
    Good luck with your choices.

I used to wear sorels and Lacrosse Icemans. I switched to Steiger Cammuks and have not had cold feet since. Check them out its what arctic explorers wear and based on Inuit foot wear with some modern twists in material. They have been worth the price. They also only perhaps 1 1/2 lbs for the pair.

Just ordered the Baffin Snow Monster-You should know not all boots are waterproof. The boots I got will shed water splashed on the top, step into water and you are probably ok too-Stand in water over your ankle and you would have a problem with the SM and you would be better with the titan. Baffin has a great boot for anyone reading this but you may want to call them and ask some questions (they do still have unions up there so you cannot call 24/7) Good luck

Looking for some recommendations on new boots for ice fishing. I use my boots for ice fishing, snow blowing and playing with the kids in the snow.

Based on Brandon’s requirements, the Titan is a terrible choice IMO. They are far too bulky for playing in the snow. Titans are great for standing around ice fishing in slushy pea soup. They are warm and HUGE! I got a pair to replace a pair of worn out Mucks, but I’m only willing to wear them while ice fishing in wet conditions.

I don’t mind the size of the titans, they are still light, I don’t wear them for playing football, there are other options for that, they are for staying warm.

I bough new boots this year after owning Artic Mucks which my feet got cold in and decided to look for Baffin to try out. I found them at Scheel’s in St. Cloud. I bought the Baffin Icebreakers. They so far in -12 degree weather we’re outstanding. I wear a wick away sock with a wool sock. My feet are size 10 and bought a size 12 that slips right in and no lacing up, pull string instead. Very satisfied.

Unless you want to go with heated socks, check out the Baffin Polar series rated to -100c/-148f.I wanted the Vanguard model but found a deal on the
Baffin Endurance. Unbelievable boots. I ordered a size bigger to compensate for the socks. Do a thorough search and you will find them on sale. MSRP $270.
Cheaper than going to the ER for frostbite.

Does anyone have a good selection of Baffin’s locally? Or just have to buy online?

I think Joes has them or at least a few years ago. They did not have the Impact when I was buying but was able to figure my size from trying another pair similar.
I tried to get them to special order but the wait was long so ended up buying them on line. They are sized small. I wear a size 11 shoe and ended up buying a size 14 Baffin Boot

Anyone tried the Kamik Cody? I’m worried about sweat in the all rubber boots. Thanks.
