I’m looking at doing a trip next spring to fish for walleye. My question is I see a lot of pictures and it seems that everyone is fishing in smaller boats. Im currently running a year-craft 2095. I do have accesss to a 2010 pro guide also. I would be getting a chip to help run the river. Is there a reason they are running smaller boats? IM not new to running in colder weather and know what to do to the boat overnight when not in the water. Just looking for whatever insite people are willing to share. I don’t want your honey hole, just a little info on conditions etc. Thanks in advance.

You’ll be just fine with the yar craft. Early ice out when river just opens, guys will push small boats over the shore ice to fish the river. Once they push the shore ice away from access you can put about any boat in any access from Birchdale to wheelers

I use my 621 in the river, drain motor , live well in water not on ramp if the weather is freezing, you can cork live well and use a cooler if real cold. Warm up motor before taking off.
goggle up IDO on the Rainy,James has fished bigger boats on the River some good tips on you tube. If you get the remote border crossing permits it opens up a lot more water, no live bait or beer in the boat when in Canada. Pending timing bring sturgeon gear, just in case.
