Looking for MX owners who’ve install Garmin ducers on their transom

I’ve switched my MX1825 boat electronics from Humminbird to Garmin. Looking for advice on installing a GT56 and LVS12 back on the transom. I’m guessing the GT56 will work in the same spot my HB SI ducer was, but what about the LVS12? I really dont want a rooster tail when on plane and at cruising speed.

Do you get good depth readings at speed with the all in one ducer or is a separate 2d sonar with splitter cable needed?

Here’s my old Humminbird SI ducer location:

    Joe,
We have had better luck with the Garmin all in one without hi spped ducer than the other brands. I suspect you wont need it. Perhaps since you are running cable anyway, it might be smart to run the hi speed as a back up plan.

    I appreciate the info Dean!

    three questions for ya:

    1) Is my existing Humminbird SI ducer location optimal for the Garmin GT56?
    2) Has the Boat center installed any LVS12 transducers on the transom?
    3) What Stern transducer pad does the Boat Center recommend?

Sorry I can’t help with the skeeter portion of it as my hull is aluminum and significantly different, but I mounted my garmin in the same location as my old Hbird ducer and I can read bottom all the way through my speedometer. With the hbird ducer I lost bottom around 15-18 mph and couldn’t get it back without stopping.

I chickened out and kept my Humminbird…sold me extra Garmin unit….didn’t want to put new holes through the fiberglass….
