I am tired of carrying a heavy battery for my vex. Any recommendations for a small lightweight battery that will last for a day of hole hopping?
    Thanks for the advise!

Lithium would be the way to go. It’s lighter and will last all day.

Unfortunately that buy group is closed. 10AH is what I have. It’s identical in size to the SLA battery your unit came with.

Curious, what’s are the weight savings?

According to Dakota’s site the Lithium weighs 2lbs 14oz where a SLA from Cabelas weighs 7.2lbs. So about 5lbs. As much as I walk around and have to lug my locator that 5lb savings is huge.

Or you can go the dewalt or Milwaukee batteries route, especially if you already have them.

Dakota, Energized outdoors, Bioenno power, all have LiFePO4 batteries that are lightweight. The marcum shuttle is what I use with my FLX28.

How about using a smaller battery with less amp hours, just enough to use it for a day and recharge during the night. How many amp hours would be enough for a full day of fishing?

Even a smaller SLA will weigh more then a lithium.

I often use four 18650 cells in a series holder. It will power a vex for about 17 hours. Maybe 1/6 the size and weight of a 10ah Dakota or Energized Outdoors lithium.

The weight difference is significant. I never really thought about it as I really don’t move around that much or pull a sled far without power under my but.
Thanks for shooling me something I will consider.
