You’ve given yourself a budget that should allow for quite a few options. What about instead of one rod and reel set up get two that cover different weights/presentations?
Example – one light action rod for those 1/10 to 1/4 lures and another for the heavier ones.
If that’s something that interests you here’s a ling of thinking I’ve used.
A pair of St. Croix Premier series will be about $250 retail then find a sale on a couple Pflueger presidents. You’ll be at $350 and have two pretty nice setups. A variation would be to put more money into one rod and less into the other too. ex crankbait rod doesn’t need to be as sensitive. save some cash and put that to upgrading to an avid for the other one.
I fish different styles so action suggestions may not be spot on for you.
I run a 6’6″ medium fast action spinning and that is extremely versatile for anything but the real light lures. When I only had one rod this was it.
A second rod would be a Medium light or maybe even just a light with either a fast or extra fast tip. Can’t guess at length for style of fishing.
Hope this helps. Geez it’s so much fun to help spend other peoples money
