I would like to buy a new pair of uninsulated boots in the near future, and I’m looking for suggestions. 75% of the time, these will be used as everyday boots when in the yard or shop, but the other 25% will be while hiking in the woods while mushroom hunting or fishing. I would like them to be all leather or at least mostly, and I’m looking for comfort and durability as my top two considerations. I’m leaning towards a Red Wing or a Danner, but I am open to suggestions. I’d like to stay under $250.

    Ideas or Suggestions?

I wear blue tongue protectors, they are made by redback boots, an australian company.
the protector series is a non-slip sole above the ankle boot, they zip up on the sides, and the can be tied like a traditional shoe, you will want the inserts that are available separately, the sizes for me have been spot on.
as a mechanic,I am on my feet on concrete all day,and these have been a back saver as I am not the lightest person in the world.

the pair I am wearing now is over a year old and no signs of wear on the soles, and they make for a good pair of hiking boots as well, these cost me 150.00.
you can spend more on their boots depending on what fits your style.

I have owned redback shoes and boots for the last five years and am very happy with them.

Thourogood boots out of Wausau Wis I believe. I was a huge Red Wing fan until I tried these. No break in period at all soft from the get go. Made in the USA….
I too am on concrete or in a ditch all day. No complaints here. You can definitely stay under 2 hundo.

I realay like the Under Armour wall hanger boots. I have had Danner pronghorns but they only last me about 3 months and then they will start leaking. I am guide on a game preserve so my boots get abused. The Under armour boots are the only boots I would buy again.

I own a pair of non steel toe red wings that I like a lot. Great comfort and they have held up great so far. I am shopping for another pair now as well and I will likely go with a pair of ankle high Keens. Try on lots and go with what is comfortable as it sounds you will be wearing them quite a bit.

Keen Targhee II……. doesn’t get much better than that. I use them for the same exact thing you described and add a little bit of high elevation hunting into it. So light, so comfortable, waterproof, and affordable…. If you try them on…. you will be sold. I guarantee you that.

Danners always seem to have let me down, great right away , but no durability in the stretch run.

Ariat boots. Best uninsulated boot I have owned.

You can’t beat Red Wings imo. I have a number of different styles and love them all. My brother has a pair of the Red Wing Classics No 877’s, that are coming up on 2 decades old used for all his upland hunting and outdoors stuff before it gets cold. And all he has done is treat them occasionally and get new laces. Those boots have to have well over 100 miles walked in them, and he wouldn’t trade em for any other boots, including a new set of the same.
