Longer Wheel Houses

    Hey everyone,
I just recently upgraded my 8×16 icecastle wheel house to a 24 foot aluminum house with a 4 foot v. I am curious to know how you folks with same size houses or bigger, navigate some of these steeper lake accesses? As of right now I am pulling it with a half ton, I will be upgrading to a 3/4 eventually. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

That’s a tough one. You could get a hitch with adjustable tongue heights. It’s a hassle but may get the teeter enough to not drag the tail of the house. Otherwise mount some steel skid shoes/pads to the rear corners so to not damage the actual frame.

I have seen campers and motorhomes with a set of hd wheels that are on swivels attached to rear frame/bumper.

Your options are rear wheels or basic plate skids. Just remember if you hook/drag one of those rear corners too much you could easily pop some welds. I sometimes have issues with my 27′ enclosed sled trailer on hills or steep driveways but it’s rides lower than a fish house I believe.
