I’ve been using a 30” TUCR bullwhip for vertical jigging for crappie out of a kayak. I’m looking for a longer noodle rod (over 36”….48″ would be perfect) for this particular application. Any suggestions? Or, Is there a technical reason why the noodle rods are not offered in lengths over 36”?

    Thanks,
    Mark

We usually have stuck withe rod box mfg’s limits.
    Otter 39″ is max.

There is also one thing is the longer the noodle rod the more you see your shakes. Noodle rods the tips are very light and will show any movement.

32″ is all I can handle, without the shaking bothering me.

I bought a 56” hybrid from a builder and that rod is deadly awesome! Noodle front half with solid backbone (two blanks bonded together making one). What I bought is basically a DH drifter but has closed off thread work. I use it both ice fishing and vertically fishing suspended crappies off the side of the boat (vertically fishing open water is the intent of he rod). Highly recommend them! I’m assuming you can find info about the rods details on the DH website or you can find Chris Stanton on Facebook and ask him about the rod (I had chris make me one). As far as the “shaking” have not experienced that with this rod.

S.portsmans direct sells a 48 lt noodle and a 48 ml carbon. I have built on both of these blanks and love them for walking around rods. You can buy complete rods from them for around 50.00

Extreme tackle sells a rod called the micro master, sizes 48 inches to 84 inches, I use the 48 for ice fishing and a 72 in the Hobie. fun cheap little rod. DK.

I built a 48 incher off the Sportsman’s Direct glass blank. Sanded the tip down a little bit, but left it just slightly stiffer than my ice rods to give a little more control and less shakes on the longer blank.

He’s wanted it for vertical jigging perch over the side of the boat but I think it might have made a trip or 2 to the ice this year.

After making it I could see the guys that fish real shallow water for panfish liking it. Wouldn’t have to use the reel if fishing in less than 8 feet or so of water.
