    Hi All,

I have a few planner board rods, but wondering if I can get some suggestions for a good 9′ trolling rod to use without boards.

We got onto a trolling bite this weekend with Tail dancers but really couldn’t enjoy the fish as they were all below 24″ and on the big planner board rods we were just basically reeling them in.

Deep Tail Dancers would be about the biggest bait used.

I use the Eyecon ECT106MHM2. These are no longer made from my understanding but Marine General had some earlier this spring.

I use them for long lining, 3-ways and others has said to work well on boards.

I have’t held any but keep hearing Scheels has a really good lineup of their own rods.

The Denali Myraid 8’6″ trolling rods are starting to be pretty hot rods! I have 8 of them and I have tossed all of my Jason Mitchells in the basement as I feel these are way more telling of what my baits are doing. I use them for pulling spinners with tadpoles as well.

9’6″ Mr. Walleye Leadcore rods work well for long line trolling too.

I fished with a who had Denali rods and they were nice.

I do wish they made a shorty and hope it’s coming in the future.

I have 2 cabelas brand xtr 12′ rods, they work great for getting out away from the boat without needing boards.
