Hello guys, Me and a couple of co-workers are looking to get away from the wives for about five days. We would like to come to MN to do some fishing out of a full service resort. We don’t care which body of water it is LOW, Mille Lacs, Leech, Winnie, URL… We do not want to bring our portables so need a house on the lake. Would like to stay on land at night and have food near the lodging. Any help in pointing us in the right direction of a resort like this would help lots. I want to come in March because that is the tail end of our ice season normally. Thought maybe someone here has a special resort they like to go out of. Thank you for your help guys.

Most houses are to be removed before March 17th…. for everything you want, I would recommend Hunters Point on Mille Lacs…. they can accomodate exactly what you request. GOOD LUCK ! Here is their link http://hunterspointresort.com/
January 1, 2015 at 5:19 pm #1490834Thanks big_g it looks like a nice place. Sounds like we better come up before the 17th then. We could bring portables but we want to make this a lazy trip I appreciate the reply..
deertrackerPosts: 9253January 1, 2015 at 5:27 pm #1490837I’m not sure of your target species so I’m not sure if it matters or not but of all the lakes you mentioned only Lake of the Woods will be open for walleye. The walleye season closes at the end of February on the other lakes you listed. The walleye season remains open until mid-April on Lake of the Woods.
January 1, 2015 at 5:37 pm #1490840We really looked at LOW. Thought about the late season pike bite. We are not coming up looking to keep fish just catch and release. I new about the season closure, but I still want to fish my SD lakes as long as we can. I know you guys will have ice longer than us. Where would a guy head on LOW in march for full service resorts? I would not mind coming there… But we just want to bring minimal gear, Auger sonar and otterbox.
January 1, 2015 at 5:49 pm #1490842Has anyone used Cyrus resort on LOW? They seem full service with transportation to and from the fish house and back to land… Or did I read that wrong?… The guy driving doesn’t want to drive out on the ice if he doesn’t have to (new truck). I’ll probably make him though.

Something to consider would be the IDO Get Together planned for the third week in March on Lake of the Woods.
A bunch of people from the website will be in attendance and Ballard’s offers a “fish with us” package where they provide all needed fishing gear, travel out to and back from the provided fish house and all meals.
It is something to consider, anyway.
January 1, 2015 at 5:59 pm #1490848Thanks James, I figured that would be full by now, maybe I will call them and do that. We just want to get out on some water we are not used to for a change. I tried to put a LOW trip together last year and it fell apart. This year we are going for sure. The wives said that if you guys don’t do something soon it will turn out like last year and I want to prove them wrong! LOW it is then

I’m sure you read that right. I think all, or almost all, resorts on Lake of the Woods provide transportation to and from the house provided with a winter fishing package.

We just announced that GTG two days ago so I’m sure there’s plenty space available yet given it takes people time to put together that kind of trip. My guess is people will need to get to work on Monday to check on vacation time before they’ll be able to book anything so you’ve got some time.
January 1, 2015 at 6:12 pm #1490856Thanks for your help James! I am going to talk to the guys at work tomorrow and probably will go that route. That seems about as full service as we are going to find. Hope I see you up there when we arrive. Never fished LOW before. I am kind of in charge of this trip so if I pick LOW that’s where we are going. It should be a big change from SD lakes…

I’ll be there start to finish. Hope you can make it and I look forward to meeting you and your buddies.
January 1, 2015 at 6:25 pm #1490860Thanks! If I could get someone to answer the phone tonight I think we could start planning Thank you for your help. Hope to get up there in March…
