LMS 520 c repair/replace?

  • #1869862

My 520c will no longer respond to the power on/off switch. I checked the power at the power cable terminals and they are correct 12+ volts. (1) Is this likely a mechanical relay problem or an electronic problem? Any repair suggestions?
My transducer is the original that came with the 520c and is epoxied into the fiberglass hull and has worked fine for years. Is there a currant GPS/depth finder from Lawrence or another manufacturer that I can connect to my transducer to replace the Lorance 520c?

That is like having a tube TV. You better start looing at a new unit. Plus the new units are better with down and side scan.

I keep waiting for my 522 to crap out. I only use it for ice on the wheeler.

I have a newer unit on my TM in the bow with side scan. My questions are regarding the unit I use for general navigation. I do not want to damage the hull in removing the thru hull transducer.

A gen2 touch should work with that transducer, not sure if the Gen3 or newer would work.Maybe with a black box module?
The bad power button is a common problem with that era Lowrance unit.Either they crap-out totally, mysteriously turn them-self on,or short out when wet like mine did.

I had a 522c and it was bullet proof.
Check CL. I see a number of the 520’s and 522’s on there regularly and cheap.
