Any help appreciate on the livescope 93svplus ice unit. Took it out for first time today perch fishing gain at 64 initially noise reduction med to high. Bottom at 31’. Depth range set at 40’. Tried to pick up 5mm tungsten and could not moved gain up and never could pick up. Went to 1/16 tingler could pick up to approx 12’ could see fish react to spoon at bottom but couldn’t see spoon. Went to 1 1/2” rap could see down to approx 20’. Put on a 4” tube. Good to see past 35’. Any suggestions on see tings for smaller spoons and jigs. Heading to ID in 2 weeks would love to dialed in. Thanks for all the help. Seems like guys on you tube are seeing swivels and small jigs I couldn’t get it. Thanks

That’s deep water, so the settings need to be adjusted vs shallower water. Btw, I’m assuming you are on down view vs. forward view and that the transducer has been clicked into the correct angle.

First, your gain is too low for that depth. Turn up your gain. Generally, deep water requires higher gain settings and shallow water lower gain settings. Suggest you play with the gain only after doing the things discussed below.

Next, turn down or turn off your noise reduction, which is reducing your ability to see very small baits at great depth.

Also, your range is set too high, compressing everything on the screen. Manually set your depth range to where the bottom is just barely showing above the tool bar on the lower part of your screen (ex. If fishing in 31’, manually set the depth to 32’). Do this every time you change depth. Don’t use auto depth feature when on ice. The default setting is reducing the detail the unit can show you.

Finally, you might need to adjust your transducer pole/stick, either rotating it until the lure is inside the long, narrow cone of the sonar signal or possiblY adjusting the stick to make sure it’s pointing straight down at your lure. If the stick is crooked due to snow or ice around the hole and not pointing directly at your lure then you may lose return signal that way. Also, rotating the transducer pole, which adjusts the attitude of the sonar signal, can mean the difference between seeing your bait clearly and not seeing your bait at all.

Try these things and see if they don’t help. You should be able to see the smallest tungsten fly at 31’ when your set-up has been optimized.

The Livescope ice bundle is amazing in what it will show you. Once you dial it in, you’ll be very happy with your investment.

Did you correct the 8 degree tilt of the transducer? There is a built in offset to shoot around a trolling motor. Just shim out the mount to get it plumb.

X2 on the ducer rotation. Even in down view, rotating the ducer to find the optimal position will do wonders. Regarding manual adjustment of the ducer head from forward to down view and back, I never touch the ducer for this adjustment. I do it digitally in the “sonar” menu. You can switch back and forth from forward to down view never having to take the ducer out of the water.

It would be nice if that was so but unfortunately that’s not true. You have to manually rotate the transducer. The option in the sonar menu for forward and down view is to do it manually if the system doesn’t detect that you rotated the transducer. Im sure in a year or two however you will be able to switch views digitally from your chartplotter but for now you will have to rotate manually

Thanks for all the help. Ordered the straight pole mount. Will make the adjustments. As far as making sure I have transducer in line I can see larger tubes I am hoping to get this adjusted correctly so to be able to use for Lakers down to 85’. Hopefully still heading for ID end of month but found out a lot of slush with more snow in the forecast. They need a good week of single digits thanks again

Thank you everyone for the recommendations. I put on a 0’ pole mount and applied the above suggestions. Yes can see swivel and 5mm jig at 35’. Is is interesting seeing schools react to something different in their environment. Now I am trying to clean up the clutter as typ shown on you tube shows. Messed with every setting I could think of but still had a lot of clutter “ ray streaks “. Getting close any other suggestions
    Thanks again

Search “livescope ghost tree”, that should bring up a few setup suggestions and tricks to maybe help clear that up. I get one sometimes on hard steeper breaks, but nothing too bad. And, make sure you’re running the latest software.

Great info on set up guys. In iD now unit works great keeps wife awake and really into it and trying to make fish bite. She authorized a new x-over ordered the otter xt- pro lodge. Thanks RSGs in walker Choose that over the JM x-200.
(Anything to keep the best fishing partner happy and on the ice)
Also saw the summit ice pole system in action Better than G-ice pole by far. Will make it easier to hole hop
