Turkey hunting tonight! I’m sitting in the same stand I shot Sebastian out of. It feels good to be in the stand again!

Finally in a tree I can post pictures from. Been waiting for the sun to stop blinding me to take a pic. First time in this stand, perhaps not the best option on a day without a cloud in the sky.

This weekend was my first time on stand this year. Saturday I saw 4 does and 2 fawns and nothing was mooving on Sunday.
I’ll mark it up to being too warm and windy. I moved the trail camera to the trail I was hunting on Sunday to find out if I should continue to hunt that spot. It just looks too good to give up on.

Been a long time since I sat in stand. Back tonight with the wind in my face, a cold front on the way and a plot of dry beans in front of me…high hopes!

Morning #2. I wasn’t going to sit in this stand because all of our biggest bucks cross at the 300 yard mark and I dont want my son to shoot past 150 but we have also shot some closer so we will see.

Not even the pheasants are moving this AM. Gonna be a short sit. Winds gusting over 30 now.

Evening sit #2 of the early youth season. This is one of those spots where you are on high alert for the whole sit. It is that prime. As long as the cows stay away.

It was slow this morning. They definitely moved in the pre-dawn. No deer.

Its getting intense. Just had a very big bodied deer move through. By the time I saw it, Its head was in the brush and by the time the gun was up he was through.

Congrats GH. My son shot one a few years ago that I stared at with the binos for a good 10 minutes and thought it was a doe. Any pics?

This is defiantly the longest into the season I have gone without laying eyes on a deer while in the stand. Odd given this was one of the best summers for seeing and/or trail cam pictures of quality deer I’ve ever had. But I’ve only half heartedly hunted so far, the next 2 weekends will tell the full tale if historical trends stay true to form.
