Would it be considered live from the tree if I was checking my trail cam cards while sitting in the goose field? It was slow goose hunting again this weekend so I grabbed my laptop and cards from my cams and sat in the goose blind and checked out what happened over the week. Multitasking

Live from the tree 2014

Beans are getting pretty dry now and the deer are feeding on the pods. In less than an hour the big boy should make his entrance, then it’s just a matter of closing the distance. The job he failed to complete Sunday evening.

September 23, 2014 at 6:52 pm #1457405Cool. My buddies back home started combining last night. It’s still very green here on the west side of town.
GET SOME!!!!
September 23, 2014 at 8:38 pm #1457428Had the same 2.5 year old 8 come right to the tree again. He was all alone tonight
September 24, 2014 at 6:36 pm #1457808Switching it up tonight. Giving the other stand a rest and hunting the south side of my back bean plot.

September 25, 2014 at 6:14 pm #1458134Its very warm tonight. Decent southeast wind and they are combining the beans next door. I have my thermalcell running and dressed as light as I can. Hoping big John shows himself.

September 27, 2014 at 7:23 am #1458630Not so live post. Couldn’t even get to my blind. It was covered up in deer. Backed out. Try later maybe. Windy here already.
September 28, 2014 at 6:18 pm #1458923I would kill for some wind. It’s hot still and buggy. Forgot the thermoelectric at the farm.
Found the first scrape of the year walking to stand tonight and one of my 2.5 year old bucks broke one side off. Trail cam pic shows it hanging. Must be starting to fight
September 28, 2014 at 6:33 pm #1458926It’s been a grind out in sodak for us. Mid 80 temps and 25 mph hour winds off the river. The SE wind killed us, blowing right down the draw we had hopes of hunting this weekend. However, we put eyes on 3 nice mulies in the last day but they have eluded us in the dense cedars. I don’t know why but I’m feeling optimistic tonight! Great view none the less!

September 28, 2014 at 6:46 pm #1458931The beans next door are all gone now, but my plots are good and dry with tons of pods. Hope they come here to feed tonight
September 28, 2014 at 9:07 pm #1458968Failing light got the best of us tonight, had a nice muley in the binos but not enough light to slip in. A ton of does and a few other smaller bucks roaming the river hills. Tomorrow!
September 29, 2014 at 11:25 am #1459077Nothing for me this AM. Had a good buck at this stand last night. Hopefully he keeps the same pattern. Cold and windy now. Way different than the last two days. Feels like deer hunting again now.
September 29, 2014 at 5:44 pm #1459218Well, I’m here waiting. The buck came in last night while I was shooting prairie dogs.

September 29, 2014 at 7:01 pm #1459242Just had a nice 5×5 skirt me on the run. He seemed spooked. Either these high winds of totes most likely.
October 2, 2014 at 5:57 pm #1460387I am prolly gonna get very wet tonight, but I have to try. Leaving for Canada for a week which means no time in the stand.
October 3, 2014 at 5:31 pm #1460693Back at it in central SD. Windy is an understatement. Hoping it lays down to 20 about sunset….

October 4, 2014 at 4:40 pm #1460848My view for the evening….it’s been a long time coming, but I finally made it back to the family farm for the 2014 season and I couldn’t be more excited.
Now if the wind would just calm down a bit, this sit could be productive!

deertrackerPosts: 9237October 4, 2014 at 5:16 pm #1460861Back where I shot the doe last night. Got 6 bucks 500 yards north of me but they look spooked. Flipping yotes most likely.
October 4, 2014 at 5:43 pm #1460875One of my favorite views on the farm. Box blind on the edge of 4 acres of beans lined with 6 rows of corn bordering 55 acres of alfalfa surounded by 180 acres of harwoods. Not hunting tonight, just scouting.

October 4, 2014 at 5:50 pm #1460879Spotted two yotes up by the bucks so far. Need to go get the rifle and put the bow away.
goosehunterPosts: 147October 5, 2014 at 4:16 pm #1461052sat over a turnup/clover plot last night. i wasent seeing much and then a small 8 point stepped out, i never saw him walk anywhere, all he did was make 2 scrapes, run around the the edge of the field (sometimes with his nose to the ground) which got me thinking, could he be looking for does this early? or was he just spooky because of the wind?
October 5, 2014 at 7:42 pm #1461091I watched a lot of light sparring last night. Just the little guys. I also noticed our trees really took a beating the last 48 hours. Lots of fresh sign.
Protourbaits1Posts: 191October 7, 2014 at 7:07 am #1461488Turkey hunting this morning! I’m set up on the edge of an alfalfa field and within 150 yards of the roost. It feels good to be able to hunt again!
Protourbaits1Posts: 191October 7, 2014 at 8:32 am #1461544Had a group of 10-12 hens come by at 30 yards. I didn’t know the distance at the time. Had 4 toms in the woods and they never offered a shot
goosehunterPosts: 147October 7, 2014 at 7:26 pm #1461741almost fell out of the stands this morning, had a 20-30 turkeys roosted right over me and as i got to my stand a bunch took off, and as i was half way up another bunch took off. scared me half to death!
October 8, 2014 at 6:46 am #1461825I can only imagine. The pheasants erupting under foot out in SD generally ruin all my scent control efforts.
