Live from the tree 2014

I didn’t see a “live from the tree” thread started yet. Like in years past, use this thread to post action shots from your stand.

If one of the mods could pin it to the top it would be great.

I will be in the stand tomorrow night. Feels like deer hunting in Nov, not September.

I’ll take this weather over normal opener temps any time. Nothing worse than trying to sit still with half a dozen skeeters hanging off you and gnats crawling into every place they can find.

Sitting in a big oak. Watching over a hay feild where a snowmobile trail meet. Wind blowing to the North.

Facing east. Wind out of the south. Walked on a highway on my way in.

In one of my favorite stands, very comfy hang on. Corn/beans to my right, crp to my left and white oaks dropping acorns all around me. Nice south wind covered my entry. Life is good in the tree again )

Had enough reception to view the site from the tree but not enough to post. Just a lone red fox for me tonight, but was nice to be back out in a tree.

Pulled the chip last night as I was leaving. I’m I. The right spot. The shooter on this field was here 3 nights this past week around 6:30. Hope tonight is the night. Not sure about this swirling wind though.

Needs some more lanes but I’m happy to be in a tree.

Looks like I can post but not upload I pic from this spot. Moved to a 2 man ladder I bought last winter thats near the point of a finger sticking out into a valley. I could swear I heard deer moving from last night’s stand in the direction of this one. I wanted to sit in one I put up this morning in a patch of white oaks but the wind and racket the neighbor on that side is making changed my plans.
Fyi, this rivers edge 2 man stand is comfy, especially since in the only one in it.

Worst sit ever. I got bused from 4 different directions in 15 min period. Swirling winds suck.

Saw 4 deer tonight 2 bucks and 2 does. Got the bigger buck to respond to the grunt call. Does never got within 70 yards. Bummer, I wanted to draw some blood.

I’m late on posting. Saturday night was great. At 6 pm, a doe and fawn came out and fed in the used to be cattle pasture. 20 minutes later, a 135″ 8 point came out with a 2.5 y/o 9 pt. I have no previous pictures of the 8 point. As i watched these deer about 70 yards away, I saw a giant bodied deer 200 yards down the field. I saw the back of him and judged him to be 140″+ (i don’t have pictures of him either). All the deer went down to the big bodied buck, and that was my night. The deer have NEVER done that particular pattern as they usually walk within 30 yards of my stand.
After hunting, I took a drive to the area where they were going and found that they were going to an alfalfa field. I decided to hang a stand the following morning in the area where all the deer went and where the 140″ was.
I sat in that stand tonight, and just like clockwork, the bucks came out of the woods at the exact spot as they did Saturday night. This time, however, there were 6-7 different bucks. The same 8, same 2.5 y/o 9 pt, and a 130-135″ 10 point. The bucks sparred 4-5 different times between 6 and 6:30 pm. The bucks were working their way towards me, but decided to cut halfway across the field.
A doe must’ve got my wind, saw a farmer out in the field, got spooked by the cows, or smelled where I walked in because she just ran back to where she came from and the bucks followed her. Very disappointing and frustrating, but I’m glad to have gotten the chance. The cat and mouse game continues!

Saturday was an alright evening for me, i went out to my buddy’s land and saw a doe and 2 fawns a half hour later a 135 class 8 point walked out 30 yards from me, broadside and i couldnt get a shot off because they didnt cut any shooting lanes for this stand. tonight i went back to the same stands (we cut shooting lanes at midday) hopping to see the same buck..as my luck has it i never saw a deer..

Looks like everyone needs to do a test photo so their pictures can be right side up. My neck hurts. -)

Sitting behind the house again tonight. Beans in front of me and behind, gravel pit meadow to my left and pines to my right. Decent wind, just need a doe or big John to come by.

Ya, how can one ‘preview’ the attachment pic before posting????seems now pics are going every whichever direction they want…what gives and what’s the fix? Went back to ‘edit’, but couldn’t edit the pix for rotation or anything….

It seems that if I flip my phone horizontal and have the top of my phone on the left side it posts correct. Might be different for other phones.

Ok, here we go again, out back of the house. A little warmer tonight, but manageable. Very light south wind…perfect. I took DT advise and turned my phone. Here is what it looks like in front of me. My food plot of beans

I gave them the night off last night, but with a good southeast wind my stand is perfect. Little warm tonight, hoping it cools off fast. Ideally the deer will come from straight down wind of me. This is the view.
