Little buddy

I have the little buddy heater. When I screw a 1 lb canister in it takes 2-3 pops on the igniter and then she’s lit. I have an 8 lb tank I bring out usually. 30” hose on it. Open the tank valve wide and 25-30 pops later on the igniter I can get it going. I keep everything warm til I use them so it’s not frozen or anything. I am guessing that it’s the length of the hose that makes it hard to light.
Gonna go through an igniter for sure at this rate.
    Any suggestions?

Assuming you mean Buddy and not Little or Big Buddy?

You need to purge your hose.

Before you hook it to the heater carefully push in the valve on the female end of the hose with a Leatherman or some other tool.

Just takes a second or so.

(Do this outside to be safe, and you need the tank valve open)

You can also hold the pilot knob down for the better part of a minute before clicking if you have the patience (slowly purges the hose using the pilot orifice)

If you want to get really serious without disconnecting, you can “trick” your thermocouple with a torch or grill lighter. It will give your burner the green light to open the big valve and purge the line in a hurry as well (and light the heater simultaneously)

Either have the patience for the gas to travel through the line or use the 1 pounders.

This^^^don’t just start clicking it till you get some gas down the line.

    That’s right Tlazer – 30” (inches ).
Yes the smaller Buddy heater. I assumed the gas traveled slowly but was unsure how to speed it up. Unfortunately Dutchboy, patience is not a strong suit.
I have opened the heater valve all the way and left it open while I set other things up and it helped somewhat but thought you all would have better options for me which you do, thanks!
Everyone – makes perfect sense will try it soon. appreciate the help.

Does your 30″ hose have regulator on it?
