It will depend on were you are fishing the bay. The north 1/3 most people fish on the bars first light and evening into dark. If you are fishing south they will still fish first light and evening but will also fish during the day for perch. You can catch walleyes during the day but they will be deeper during the day and not as active. Check with the local bait shops they will give you some advice. Also be careful where you are driving ice conditions to vary a lot up there.
I haven’t been up there for a few years now. However, definitely check a few local shops for real time info. When we hit that regularly, the bite moved around to different shoals. On over cast/snowing days I had good consistency around Peninsula Point Shoal. Depth matters, so don’t hesitate in moving around
